Banana Stems are very unique looking, they look like trees with shelf mushrooms growing all over them. The size can vary on these quite a bit. Some are thicker than others, and some stems are only 1" while others top out at 3". While these look fairly woody, they will expand quite a bit while soaking.

Slow boil your Banana Stems for approximately 45-60 minutes (or until they sink) and allow to cool in fresh, cold-room temperature water for a few hours before adding to your aquarium. This allows any residual organics to come off before adding to your tank.
