Rabbit Snail (Tylomelania Sp.)
Yellow/Orange Rabbit Snails (Tylomelania Sp.) are a beautiful species of aquatic snails, found in Lake Matano, Indonesia. They are substrate dwellers, spending most of their time sifting through the sand or buried down in it. From time to time you will see them crawl up the side to check out the surface, or crawling on plants (some of which, they like to eat such as banana plants)
Rabbit snails prefer heated aquariums, we keep ours around 78°F. They require harder water, we keep our water at around 275-300 TDS (8-9 gh, 4-5 kh) with a pH of at least 7.6. These snails do reproduce in the home aquarium, however not at a rapid rate. You will only see 1-3 snails born per female, per month.
These are friendly snails, that will get along well with other like minded community inhabitants. Ours make wonderful tank mates to some of our blue dream shrimp.
We sell young snails, but should be at least 3/4-1" long.
