Alternantheria reineckii "Variegated" is a slower growing mid-foreground plant that should be shown off with its stunning coloration. The leaf is a dark pink/red with lighter colored veins. Trim these when they start getting too tall, and they will grow back even bushier than before.
I grow my Alternantheria reineckii in high tech conditions, with injected co2, med-high lighting, and lean fertilizers. I suggest these same conditions for optimal growth.
